Time for the New Beginning
Great wines of the Janko Winery in their new home

While preparations for the full and permanent movement of the Janko Winery to the new, modern facility are in progress, some medals arrived including trophies from BIWC in Sofia. Dragan Vasic, the owner of the Janko Winery, made a party for his respected colleagues to celebrate those awards as well as moving to new facilities. The event was attended by the gentlemen: Miodrag Radovanovic, Bozidar Aleksandrovic, Miroslav Kovacevic, Veselin Despotovic, Sasa Jovic, Slavoljub Jeremic, Aleksandar Zeremski, Srdjan Lukajic, Goran Milanov and many others.

The best white wine of the Balkans
Vrtlog (2013, Sauvignon Blanc) of the Janko Winery of Smederevo

In Bulgarian capital, on recently organized BIWC, unofficial Balkans Championship in wine quality, the product of the Smederevo wine 'veteran' (the Janko Winery) won the title of the Best White Wine of the Balkans. This flattering title is well deserved by Vrtlog (2013), Sauvignon Blanc that fermented and aged in Serbian oak barrique. This wine is a work of oenologists Mladen Dragojlovic, whose name is also on the label of the new Balkan champion.

Annual Award of the Specialized
Magazine 'Vino & Fino' to the Janko Winery of Smederevo for the best red wine of the year

At the traditional annual celebration of the reputable wine magazine 'Vino & Fino', several prizes were awarded. Laureate in the category "The Best Serbian Red Wine" for 2014, as expected, won the Janko Winery of Smederevo, for its superior Stari Zavet (2011). This award represents closing the circle of awards in this calendar year, marked by Stari Zavet in a way.

At the eminent wine competition in London, the most relevant and most distinguished one in the world of wine globally, according to many, the Janko Winery of Smederevo won the first gold medal for the Serbian wines for its Stari Zavet (2011). Apart from the gold medal, which is a very significant success, this wine received a trophy for the best red wine of South Eastern Europe in the price range of over 15 pounds sterling in the basement. Due to the extremely high ratings, this wine was in competition (with six other labels) for the best red wine of the world.
